Toyota is the World’s biggest carmaker – revealed by first six months report of 2012


The car sale results of the first half of 2012 has been out. Toyota still retains its top spot. According to a report published by Bloomberg, Toyota sold a total of 4.97 million units in the first 6 months of 2012. General Motors is in the second spot with a sale of 4.67 million units. Meanwhile the share of GM has gone up by 2.9 %. Volkswagen is in the third position with a sale of 4.45 million units. VW had managed a good rise of 8.9% sale increase.

The tsunami in Japan and the Thailand floods had adversely affected the car sale of Toyota in the year 2011. Meanwhile it managed a strong come back under the leadership of Akio Toyoda, the current President of Toyota. According to recent reports Toyota is getting some setback in the sales in Asia, as GM and Volkswagen has increased their stronghold. Toyota has brands called Toyota, Lexus, Hino and Daihatsu which combinely contributed to the sale of 4.9 million units. The US recession enabled Toyota to become world’s biggest auto manufacturer in 2008. General Motors regained that spot in 2011 which was again took back by 2012.
